Note the view inside the frame of the inside having the shell latch opposite the ejection port, the type of frame system meant to work with the other older type trigger, the newer style is shown last as used with this later trigger assembly type. See pin and twist-out lever in last photos to recognize variations.

Early trigger types can be used in later models that had the carrier button, but will feed the first shell out of the magazine and lay on the carrier (ready to lift for feeding) rather than retaining the first shell in the magazine until fired.
By knowing these details up front, just realize that to use the old style in a newer frame to make it feed and load, push the carrier latch button and hold the carrier down (when the gun is upside down) until you have finished inserting all the shells you want in addition to the first already inserted into the chamber (and make sure the safety is on).
Since the shells fed into the magazine will slide one out onto the carrier (floated) once you let the carrier drop, you can't proceed to load more (if you let that happen) without a bit of finagling, see? Same thing happens if you decide to push the little black button on this newer type trigger system before you have fired the gun, a shell will come out of the magazine when the carrier drops due to that button being pushed. The hammer fall is what typically automatically depresses that black button so the carrier drops and lets a shell out in anticipation of feeding after ejecting the shell just fired.
