The pelham bit is usually used with two sets of reins.  The top rein works on the corners of the horse's mouth assisting in turning and bending while the bottom rein acts primarily on
the bars, helping with control and collection.  The mouthpiece of this bit is a slightly curved bar Mullen mouth.  The mullen mouth
disperses pressure evenly across the horse's mouth, including the tongue and bars.   It is considered a mild, gentle mouthpiece.
Includes curb hooks (chain not included).  "Carlyle 5 1/2"" is marked on the mouthpiece.
This bit is lightly used.   The hangtag has been reattached (paper tag has lots of creases).  The bit is is still very clean and shiny.
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being new, mint condition, I would give this bit a 9.
