WHAT IS A MOVIE PRESS BOOK OR PRESS KIT
Since the earliest days of movies (1900’s) studios have been working to help cinemas / movie theaters encourage and draw people through their doors.  Studios have produced press kits and press books as one part of a marketing campaign to encourage cinema managers to promote their films.  Inside typically would be release information about the film, interviews with the stars and their bios, photos, cast/crew credits, reviews and articles, advertisements for different media formats and promotional ideas such as contests and games and merchandising tie-ins.   They could be almost any size and depending on how much information the studio was providing, could range from as little as a few pages to as many as needed.  They are considered collectible and most valued when completely intact and nothing has been cut from them.

    ABOUT MOVIE MEMORABILIA
Collecting movie memorabilia is a great hobby and can be very profitable.  Like most collectibles, original movie memorabilia such as posters, lobby cards, still photos, etc. will increase in value over time.  Most movie posters were actually used and displayed in a
    theater
to promote a film and will normally have minor flaws and/or imperfections.  It is not unusual for an original poster to have mounting holes or tape marks, fold/crease lines, fading, writing on the back or on the border, and/or minor wear from handling.  Fold or crease lines are very common on most posters issued prior to the mid 1980's and are not really considered a defect.  These types of imperfections actually attest to a poster's authenticity.  Whether as an investment or as a gift, original movie memorabilia is a special way to remember a film and own a piece of movie history.
