    The full cheek bit has extensions above and below the mouthpiece to assist in lateral control and direction as well as to help prevent the bit ring from being pulled through the horse’s mouth.   The mouthpiece on this bit is an offset double wire snaffle.   It is sometimes called a “W” bit since it makes the shape of the letter W (see 3rd photo).  The mouthpiece tends to be quite severe, creating a double nutcracker action and applying more tongue and bar pressure.   The double twisted wire mouthpiece is usually used for short training sessions, especially to lighten up a horse if they are not responding properly to the bit, or as a “last resort” bit.   This can be a very severe bit and should only be used by experienced riders with good hands.

    .   It has some marks from normal use, but nothing that should effect its performance in any way.   On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being new, mint condition, I would give this bit an 8++.
