Up for your consideration is this Medium Loose Ring Gag Spinner English Horse Bit by Bombers. This bit is a size 140 or 5 1/2 inches.
The Medium Ring Gag is stronger than the usual Loose Ring and Eggbutt as the ropes going through the rings create leverage which will exert more pressure through the mouthpiece whilst at the same time introducing more poll pressure.
The Spinner sits on top of the horses tongue and prevents the horse putting its tongue over the bit.
When a rider wants to use a gag bit, it can only be used in combination with a gag rope.  This cord passes through the two rings in the bit ring. At the top is a buckle to attach the cord to the bridle. At the bottom of the cord is a ring to which the rein is attached.
Blue steel bits are made of a mixture of materials, also called an alloy. This gives a sweet taste. The mouthpiece of these bits have a blue or black color. If the bit is used the blue or black layer gets oxidized and then becomes orange/brown, the color of rust. This rust gives a sweet taste. A sweet taste stimulates the salivation production and acceptance of the bit.
