Mikmar Watson Swoop Bit is a very useful elevator/gag style bit for the light-handed rider with a horse who occasionally needs a stronger signal. The unique Swoop Bit designed for Mikmar by Richard Watson allows the rider to be soft and quiet then employ gradually more pressure as needed. The cheek pieces have a large right with a bar attached to a small ring. When the reins are engaged, the bit activates in a slow swooping motion as it moves up higher in the horse's mouth. The mouthpiece offers the mild contact and function of a snaffle while the cheeks and curb chain deliver the leverage effect of an elevator or gag bit. The curb chain should fit loosely so it only comes into play when more leverage is needed.
