Myler 29 Flat Shank (5-Inch)PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Stainless Steel 7 Flat Shank with Sweet Iron Correctional Cathedral Port (MB 29) Copper Inlay Mouth. This mouthpiece is made of polished Sweet Iron which naturally oxidizes. About the mouthpiece: the 29 is a traditional correctional mouthpiece, a ported mouthpiece that collapses on to the outer lip and bars, and rotates on to the tongue. The port itself is 1 ½ high, offering room for the tongue to pass under the bit and swallow. The flat plate above the port is 1 ¼ high and ¾ wide and tilts back rather than sitting straight up. When the reins are engaged, the mouthpiece collapses and applies two points of pressure on the tongue; the flat plate tips forward and applies pressure to the palate. The pressure on the palate is distributed across the surface of the plate. For same tongue relief but with milder palate pressure, see the 27PB HP. The 29 is not designed for use by the casual rider. Its use requires a very experienced rider with excellent control of his hands and a horse that is very ï¬nished in his training who knows how to ride off seat and leg, as well as very light rein aids. Palate pressure when applied properly causes the horse to drop his head but because the palate is so sensitive, it needs to be used with great restraint.
