    Description

Wonderful set of 2 bamboo/wood wall plaques.
Typical tourist decor of Southeast Asia.
This form of craft was called "Japanning" and involved a mixture of bamboo and classic Asian shapes and was applied to furniture and pieces of decor from the 18th century onwards.
This looks to be from 1st third of the 20th Century, design likely from the 1930s.
Plywood and bamboo, with black painted flat woven raffia material, and golden straw work creating one sunset and palm tree landscape, and one elephant and house landscape.
    Measure each 9.75" diameter.
*Note: the one with the elephant motif is missing its original bent bamboo hook for hanging.
