    Description

This is an authentic 1930s James Sadler Crinoline Lady and Chintz Teapot. It was made in England, probably after the victorian period began. The lovely front scene of the Crinoline Lady in a flower garden is accented by gold floral chintz covering the rest of the teapot. "Crinoline" is a petticoat of haircloth or stiff material worn under a full skirt to keep it belled out. This Crinoline Lady is wearing a Victorian hooped yellow skirt with purple trim and a matching bonnet as she is walking through the garden. It appears she may be wearing a green shawl or blouse.
This teapot measures 9" from spout through handle and is 5 1/4" tall. For being approximately 90 years old, this teapot is in very good condition. I will tell you exactly what I see concerning condition. The crinoline lady scene is in excellent condition and very colorful. The lid is original and it has a chip on the inside bottom rim cover as seen in the photo. It has been used to make tea (there were some loose grounds on the inside bottom) and so, it has some teastained darkening and crazing on the inside rim opening of the teapot (after removing the lid) as you see in the photo and on the bottom of the teapot. The gold trim and chintz covering are in very good condition, including the spout. This is a very collectible crinoline lady teapot.
