WWII USMC Artist Grant Powers Letter/ Postal Cover Kwajalein Atoll Atomic Bomb. Awesome hand written letter written by Grant Powers, a well known artist who produced a lot of artwork for the Military during WWII. The letter measures 11 X 17” and is written to Stars and Stripes illustrator artist Wally Wallgren. He writes from Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands, June 28, 1946. He mentions seeing the B-29 Bomber “Dave’s Dream” and the crew which will carry “The Big Tomato” (Atomic Bomb). He signs off saying “I’ll keep everything down and wear my goggles and let you know the outcome of the blast.” He made an orange color rendition of the Atomic Bomb mushroom cloud on his letter. He mentions sending him an “A” Day postal cover that he designed- that is still here and that and a newspaper picture of him are glued to a blank Domain of the Golden Dragon certificate that he also designed. Letter has a few smeared words on the left but these are all in great shape otherwise. Free shippingM-7
