Description

YEMEN (Royalist)—SCARCE 1969 Life of Christ 2 sheetlets SILVER frames—MNH-VF
SCARCE UNLISTED SILVER VARIETY 2-sheetlet unit of the 1969 Life of Christ series.
As a belated celebration of Imam Badr’s mission to Pope Paul VI while visiting Jerusalem in 1964, the Mutawakelite Kingdom of Yemen issued 3 beautiful sheetlets. The first, with 10 values, has scenes of the Pope’s visit (NOT included in this lot); the second and third have masterpieces depicting scenes from the life of Christ painted by some of the world’s most famous artists and hanging in various prestigious museums. This lot contains the 2
paintings
sheetlets with SILVER (instead of the listed gold) frames. Note that this is NOT the 1970 Christmas issue of identical designs and silver frames but with overprints on each stamp and on the bottom margin. This is an unlisted variety of the original gold-framed series with NO overprints. The two sheets have 15 values
each
, from 1 to 15 bogshahs (in Roman numerals!) for the first; and from 16 to 30
bogshahs for the second. Famous p
aintings include the annunciation, nativity, baptism, temptation, parables, miracles, last supper, ascension, etc. Suitable for framing and displaying as art. MNH/VF. Varieties of Michel 668-707, sheetlets unpriced. Add these incredibly beautiful stamps to your collection today!
NOTE: Because of the miniature sheets' size, this lot must be mailed in a large envelope with stiff and protective wrappings (with Customs declaration for international sales). Consequently, shipping to an address in the USA will be , or to any international address. This high shipping cost can be reduced if you order two or more items at the same time and thus save on combined shipping.
